READY TO GET STARTED?
It’s as easy as 1, 2, 3. Let’s get reading!
Fill out the library registration form.
Come to the library and pick up your 1000 Books folder so you can start tracking your books.
After every 100 books, bring your completed form to the library so we can celebrate with you and give you your sticker and free book!
How to Choose Books
Here’s a list of just right books for infants-preschoolers.
Tips for Success
- Read at least one book per day
- Re-read each child’s favorites stories (repeated readings count toward the total!)
- More TIPS for reading to children
- Check out the 1000 Books program for fun reading ideas
- Share reading milestones with family and friends
- Share your reading experiences with us at the library!
Who can participate?
Any age child who has not entered kindergarten may participate.
Can we count books from before we started the program?
Any books read AFTER you register for the program count towards your child’s 1,000 books.
What books count?
ALL of them! Books read to your child by a parent, teacher, sister, uncle, dog:), grandpa, and even audiobooks after they’ve registered count toward the 1000 books goal.
What if we read a book more than once?
That’s wonderful! Repetition is great for learning! You can count it as many times as you read it. (Even if that means 50 times!)
Does my child earn prizes?
They do! They will receive a library book bag when they start the program. Then, for every 100 books read, bring the form or the app to the library so we can celebrate with your child and give them a special sticker and a book (for a total of 10 books).
After they get to 1000, they will get their picture taken and put on display in the library and on Facebook (if desired).
