Joan Polasky gifted the Menomonie Public Library a $77,000 annuity gift from her estate.
Ms. Polasky was raised in Menomonie, and returned to her community in the final years of her life. She celebrated libraries as places for human inquiry, community connection, and refuge. Her gift stipulates that all funds be used to support:
- Building an awareness of/access to mental health resources
- Celebrating the building’s unique architectural aesthetic
- Highlighting art and nature as vehicles for building resilience
The Board of Trustees is deeply grateful for her legacy gift, and is initiating a capital campaign, to further the reach of this bequest. Library leaders and community members will work to create a tribute to this remarkable person for years to come
