YSO – Yata, Sinz + Orfield (vocals, guitars and tenor sax) combines three veterans with long music histories and a passion for connecting with their audiences through live music. There is joy in their playing which is responsive and intuitive, and comes from skilled musicianship in a wide range of styles including folk-rock, country, jazz, and blues. YSO have each performed on concert stages, television productions, outdoor festivals, small intimate venues, honky-tonks, school classrooms and churches. YSO are embarking on a new experiment combining their alchemy of sounds.
- Yata (singer/songwriter/guitarist) has recorded ten CD’s of original music and been a guest singer on a number of artist projects. Yata has a Minnesota Music Award, been featured on NPR, organizes community music events for emerging artists, and has been performing in the Midwest for four decades.
- Sue Orfield (tenor sax/songwriter) was voted Best Horn by the Washington Blues Society five times and is the leader of the Sue Orfield Band (SOB) which has been selected numerous times by Chippewa Valley, Wisconsin reader polls as the Best Jazz Band and Best Blues Band.
- Randy Sinz (bass/guitarist/singer) started playing bass in his father’s country band as a kid and continues to perform in groups as varied as the Sue Orfield Band, AcoustiHoo, Two Rivers and Ranger Rudy and the Swinging Wingtips just to name a few.
